Enbridge, in their first original permits, asked for 510.5 million gallons of water to do this project.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced new burning restrictions across much of northern Minnesota where drought conditions continue to worsen and wildfires continue to burn.

This relocation project and Tar Sands expansion project is not a replacement. It’s not in the same area. It’s a whole new route to build
a new Line3 pipeline across northern Minnesota.

Enbridge needed to pump groundwater out of the construction area, also known as dewatering. Enbridge originally asked for permission to pump about 510 million gallons of water from the pipeline quarter, but that amount was a gross underestimate.

It should be of concern to everyone because we all know the importance of water- Nibi gaa-bimaaji’iwemagak, water that gives life.
